Manchester United outcast 'makes up mind' on transfer after brutal Sir Jim Ratcliffe blast

Manchester United's Antony is reportedly 'desperate' to make his loan deal with Real Betis permanent, ending his difficult spell at Old Trafford. The 25 year old Brazilian winger joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 for a hefty fee after impressing under Erik ten Hag at Ajax.

However, he has struggled to meet expectations at the club. Despite his struggles at United, Antony has found form at Real Betis, scoring four goals and providing four assists in just 10 games.

According to The Sun, Antony is keen to stay in Spain, with sources close to the player suggesting he is eager to remain at Real Betis, while Real Sociedad are also interested. Given United's financial woes, they would likely consider serious offers for Antony, despite facing a significant loss on the £82million they paid for him two-and-a-half years ago.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed that United would still be paying for Antony this summer due to the structure of the deal agreed with Ajax.

Ratcliffe singled out Antony in a pool of players Manchester United have "inherited", with the Ineos chief suggesting some are "not good enough" and others are "overpaid".

Sir Jim said: "If you look at the players we are buying this summer, that we didn't buy, we're buying Antony, we're buying Casemiro, we're buying Onana, we're buying Hojlund, we're buying Sancho.

"These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we've inherited those things and have to sort that out. For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we're paying £17m to buy him in the summer.

"Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid. But for us to mould the squad that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time. We've got this period of transformation where we move from the past to the future."
