A ward at the Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital has turned black and white so that staff and patients can support Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Irene Laws, the housekeeper on ward 30 in the Newcastle hospital, has been the driving force behind the Toon-themed transformation.
Speaking about her hard work putting everything together, Irene said: "I was so excited when we got to the final, and I started planning how to decorate the ward immediately. The patients absolutely love it, and they have all been cheering when I've been going past their beds and hanging things up.
"We've had help from local businesses too, with Chrissy from Pansy's Florists in North Shields giving me a discount on flowers that we've decorated the ward with. I want to say thank you to her, and I think this shows the generosity and togetherness of people.
"I've been running around trying to make sure everything is perfect, with bunting, balloons and flags all needing to be put up. It has been a lot of work, but it has really boosted the morale of the patients and staff when I've done it at other times of the year, like Christmas and VE Day, so that makes it all worth it."
