Everton are the latest team to enter the race to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham, who is edging closer to a return to the Premier League.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Abraham, 27, is keen to return to England this summer.
This comes as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to leave upon the expiry of his contract in June, leaving Everton short of options up front.
Brown told Football Insider in January that Newcastle are plotting a move for Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer as Eddie Howe is a fan of the 27-year-old.
As a result, the Toffees have begun putting plans in place to find a long-term replacement and Abraham has emerged among their top targets for the position.
The former Chelsea forward has spent the season on loan at AC Milan and is no longer a part of Roma’s long-term plans, attracting interest from a number of English sides.

Everton backed to agree Tammy Abraham transfer from Roma
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 7 March that Abraham would be a good fit for Everton as Moyes looks to add a striker to his squad.
Brown, who worked closely with Moyes at West Ham and brought Abraham to Aston Villa on loan during their time in the Championship, has explained that the striker would be a good fit for Moyes’ team thanks to his size and physicality.
“*Tammy Abraham would be a good fit for Everton,*” he told Football Insider.
“When we took him at Villa, he scored 26 goals and got us promoted.
“He’s got a lot of frustrating elements to his game, but he’s got plenty of positives too.
“He’s a bit like Ollie Watkins in that he wants to play on the shoulder of the defender and he’s always prepared to run in behind and drift across the forward line.
“He gives defenders plenty of problems, and because of his size, he causes all sorts of issues.
“That would make him a good fit for Moyesey because he likes his strikers to be physical.
“But if he gets a good chance, he’s just as likely to miss it as he is to score, he’s a bit inconsistent and I don’t know whether he’s ironed that out yet.
“He’s been over to Italy, worked on his game, and he could definitely come into a team like Everton and make a difference.
“Their scouts have been watching him and they’ll have the answers to those questions I raised.
“I think he’d be a good fit for Everton and Moyes, and with Calvert-Lewin looking like he’ll leave, the opportunity is there to become the first-choice.
“A move back to England is looking likely, so Everton will be one of the teams aiming to sign him.”

David Moyes planning to sign new striker after Richarlison latest
Everton’s efforts to sign a new striker this summer have been well-documented, as Abraham is not the only forward they have been looking at ahead of the window.
Brown told Football Insider on 10 March that Everton want to re-sign Richarlison from Tottenham as he is interested in leaving the North London outfit.
Moyes is expected to speak to members of his staff about the potential deal before making a decision, but he remains very highly-regarded at Finch Farm.
However, Football Insider revealed that Everton will find it difficult to sign Richarlison this summer given the finances involved in a possible deal.
