NFL Insider Offers Head-Turning Cam Ward Update with Draft Looming

The 2025 NFL draft is just over a month away. As of right now, the Tennessee Titans are on the clock. Many believe that Cam Ward will end up being the No. 1 overall pick.

Ward has been considered the most likely No. 1 overall pick since the draft order was finalized.

On the outside looking in, the Titans need a quarterback. Will Levis has not panned out and Ward could be the piece that helps turn the franchise around.

With that in mind, an NFL insider has opened up with a new update about Ward's status ahead of the draft.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport made an appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show" on Friday. In that appearance, he offered an update about what he thinks will end up happening in the draft.

Rapoport stated that he thinks Ward will end up being the pick for Tennessee.

"It does seem like right now Cam Ward is likely gonna go at number one," Rapoport said. "I don't know who slots in at number two right now."

In addition to his update on Ward, Rapoport seems to be suggesting that the Cleveland Browns could pass on Shedeur Sanders at No. 2.

During the 2024 college football season with the Miami Hurricanes, Ward threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He completed 67.2% of his passes and also chipped in with 204 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

ESPN's Adam Schefter also predicted that Ward will be the No. 1 pick. He took it a step farther, saying that the young quarterback will be the pick even if the Titans trade down.

"Zero chance, zero chance that Cam Ward is going to make it to the Giants at three. Just not going to happen. So, I expect that Cam Ward will be the number one pick in the draft, whether that's Tennessee or Cleveland or the New York Giants making that pick."
