Micah Richards has shared who he wants to win the Carabao Cup final between Newcastle United and Liverpool.
After weeks of nerves and several Premier League and FA Cup games, the big one is finally upon us.
Newcastle United take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, with a chance to end the seven-decade-long wait for a domestic honour.
The game means everything for Newcastle fans, who haven’t seen their team lift major silverware since 1969 – a win on Sunday would give fans something to talk about when it comes to Newcastle’s recent trophy history.
Predictions for the final have been coming in throughout the last week, with pundits split on who they think will be lifting the trophy in the stands. Former Toon ace Andy Carroll predicted a Newcastle win, the Bordeaux star shared that he will be travelling back to London to watch the final, but needed to ask his manager for the time off.
Nicky Butt has a ‘sneaky feeling’ Newcastle will win on Sunday, the Class of ’92 member played for the Magpies from 2004 to 2010 after leaving Manchester United.
Now, pundit Micah Richards has made it clear who he wants to win the final between Newcastle and Liverpool.

Micah Richards makes Newcastle Carabao Cup claim
The players are travelling down to London on Saturday ahead of the final, Eddie Howe has done all of his preparations so it’s down to Newcastle’s first-team squad to deliver on the big stage.

Newcastle fans need to be loud, according to Howe, that will be the driving force for the team to deliver on the pitch. Players like Alexander Isak and Sandro Tonali will be looked upon to deliver and justify their hefty price tags.
Toon legend Alan Shearer will be at Wembley for the final having rejected approaches from television stations to work. There are also several other club figures, past and present who will be at Wembley for the game. Newcastle gifted Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi tickets as a gesture of goodwill following their shaky exit from the club last summer.
Richards is likely to be working as a pundit for the game, on the Rest is Football podcast, he was asked if he will be supporting Newcastle in the final.
“Toon army! Of course I am!” Richards said.
Shearer replied saying: “You want Newcastle to win, don’t you?”
Richards said: “Football is the winner as you know. But in this case, I want Newcastle to win. They’ve not won a trophy for so long.
“I went up to St James’ in the Champions League when they played PSG. It was rocking. The fans were just brilliant. I’d love to see them have that moment.
“So if you ask me who I want to win, although I respect both clubs. I would pick Newcastle, Alan.”
Former Newcastle players will take to Wembley
A sea of black and white will be taking over London this weekend with Newcastle set to be backed by over 30,000 fans inside Wembley.
Fans will be gathering on Saturday night to soak up the atmosphere before the main event on Sunday afternoon. There is a feeling of confidence in the air following recent occurrences, despite Newcastle missing several players.
It was recently announced that former Newcastle players Yohan Cabaye and Ryan Taylor will be at an event outside Wembley for the final watching on with the fans.
Taylor predicted a Newcastle win earlier in the week, claiming Tonali would be the difference-maker in the game. The pair never got their chance at winning silverware for Newcastle but both left a good impression on the fans after leaving.
