Ruben Amorim sends Leicester City warning and makes Man Utd 'losing our minds' quip

Ruben Amorim has called for Manchester United to maintain their humility and hunger as they approach a clash with Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester City.

After a difficult campaign, the Red Devils have had a week to celebrate, highlighted by a drawn game against Arsenal in the league, plans for a new expansive 100,000-seater stadium and progression in the Europa League.

Despite juggling a squad hit by 11 absent players, United remained resilient during the encounters with the Gunners and throughout their last-16 tie against Real Sociedad, which culminated in a Bruno Fernandes-led victory featuring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win.

Amorim has taken encouragement from these efforts and the team's progress but insists that momentum must not wane as they gear up to face City this Sunday, just before the squads break for international duty.

"Everything is important and we need to continue with this feeling that we can win games and games after games," said Amorim. "It doesn't matter the time of rest or the time to prepare the next game. We can do it, and we showed against Arsenal.

"We have to be humble and forget that, forget the table and face Leicester like we faced Real Sociedad. We just need to win to improve our position in the table. The most important thing is to continue with this feeling of winning and that we are improving as a team."

United, currently 14th in the Premier League and out of the running for domestic cups, have nonetheless triumphed over the Foxes in all three competitions they've faced each other in this season.

Foxes manager Van Nistelrooy previously led United to victories in the Carabao Cup and a league match as their interim boss, before Amorim's side ousted them from the FA Cup.

Following Thursday's triumph over Real, which marked only United's second win in seven games since clashing with City last month, Amorim has observed positive signs: "I feel in the last game that we understand better the idea of what we want to do.

"We are better understanding the plan for the games. We are giving more time to the team to win or draw games.

"We are not suffering one goal and then losing our minds and suffering another goal, so we are understanding the moments of the game, and also we are understanding better the way we want to play."

United will be missing several key players on Sunday, but Manuel Ugarte, Harry Maguire, and Mason Mount might make appearances.

Chido Obi, 17, is available after being excluded from United's Europa League squad, unlike his young teammate Ayden Heaven, who joined from Arsenal alongside the forward.

Injuries have accelerated Heaven's integration into the first team since his arrival last month, and the 18 year old impressed in his senior debut in midweek.

Amorim praised the young defender: "I really like his confidence, I like his pace," he said. "I think he's good in defending the box. I think he's quite complete, but he has a lot of work to do."
