The Los Angeles Chargers entered Friday with four of their ideal five starting offensive linemen, with right guard, their weakest position, as the only vacancy remaining. Trey Pipkins III spent most of the year at right guard but struggled and missed the Wild Card with an injury. Jamaree Salyer also spent time at the position but also struggled.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN, the Chargers signed Mekhi Becton to a two-year, $20 million contract. Becton is listed at 6-foot-7 and 363 pounds, forming a wall with 6-foot-8 and 322 pound right tackle Joe Alt, fortifying the right side of the offensive line.
OL Mekhi Becton has agreed to a two-year deal with the Chargers, sources tell ESPN.

After spending the start of his NFL career as an offensive tackle with the New York Jets, Mekhi Becton converted to right guard with the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2024 season. The position change worked well for Becton, excelling in the run game, and improving in pass protection. He allowed 25 pressures and three sacks, with a 63.6 pass-blocking grade, a 74.7 run-blocking grade, and a 75.2 overall PFF grade.
