Tottenham travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham after qualifying for the Europa League quarter-finals in midweek
Sunday sees Tottenham Hotspur travel across the capital to face Fulham in the Premier League for the second time this season.
Despite an impressive February, where Ange Postecoglou’s side looked to have turned a corner in the Premier League with three wins from four matches, their recent performances have seen a dip in form. They are now winless in their last two league games, having drawn 2-2 with Bournemouth at home last time out after coming from 2-0 down.
Spurs return to Premier League action on Sunday after securing progression to the Europa League quarter-finals. They had to overcome a 1-0 first-leg deficit against AZ Alkmaar, which Ange Postecoglou and Co. did by beating them 3-1 at home on Thursday evening. That competition represents Tottenham’s only chance of silverware this campaign and it is vital that they keep momentum flowing before entering the international break.
Spence and Maddison have been the standouts for Ange in recent games
Tottenham beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at home in the second leg and advanced to the Europa League quarter-finals
Postecoglou made changes to his side that faced AZ Alkmaar in midweek. When asked by reporters when he will make alterations to his starting XI vs Fulham, the Tottenham gaffer said (h/t Football London):
“Yeah I think so, I think we need to. We saw how hard it is backing up—Sunday Thursday isn’t too hard but Thursday Sunday is a massive task. It helps that we are at home and with us having a more healthy squad it’s good for us to make some changes.”
Tottenham have welcomed back several key players from injuries in recent weeks. Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven and Dominic Solanke are the latest to have joined the squad. Romero and Van de Ven started a game together in midweek for the first time in many months, with the latter playing just 60 minutes before being withdrawn for Archie Gray.
Ange Postecoglou will make changes to his starting XI vs Fulham on Sunday
Rodrigo Bentancur was suspended for the home leg against AZ Alkmaar, so he will return to the squad on Sunday and certainly start in midfield. Ange will require fresh legs and energy to tackle Fulham, who have had a full week to train and prepare for this game. They have enjoyed a good season and will be highly motivated to beat us.

With the international break coming up, Ange has a healthy squad that should help him to go full strength against the Cottagers. The Australian certainly has to make some changes to his side depending on the physical toll that the players took from the European game but he’s now got options to name a strong XI that can beat Marco Silva’s side.
Let’s hope our boys disperse for the international break with a win.
