Tottenham Hotspur are expected to try again to sign an England international in the summer after failing with a move for him in January, but they face competition from four of their Premier League rivals.
Spurs secured the services of Kevin Danso from Lens in January, but they also allegedly came close to signing another Premier League centre-back during the window.
It was reported that at the time Tottenham saw a £70m offer turned down for Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace did not want to lose a key player mid-season.
Spurs have now been backed to return for the Eagles star in the summer, but they are not the frontrunners for the defender as things stand.

Tottenham among five Premier League clubs who want Marc Guehi
CaughtOffside have now claimed that Tottenham are ‘planning to open negotiations’ once again with Palace regarding their star centre-back when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
Guehi will have just one year left on his deal at Selhurst Park this summer, and he has reportedly been identified as one of the options by Ange Postecoglou to help address Tottenham’s lack of squad depth.
However, the report reveals that the Lilywhites will have to battle Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United, all of whom are keen on the defender.

The outlet adds that as things stand, it is the Reds who are sitting at ‘the front of the queue’ to land the former Chelsea man.
Crystal Palace’s Guehi transfer stance
CaughtOffside also go on to explain that Palace had previously been demanding £75m-£80m for Guehi, with the valuation putting off a lot of interested clubs.
However, with the centre-back set to enter the final year of his deal this June, it remains to be seen how the Eagles’ valuation changes.
Meanwhile, the outlet claims to have heard from sources close to Guehi that he is ready to meet with the Palace hierarchy to demand a move away from Selhurst Park this summer.
