Several Teams Are Expected To Make A Run At Zion Williamson This Summer

When he was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019, Zion Williamson was seen as the future of the franchise and a player who could lead the team to new heights.

This summer, he could be seen as a trade asset.

According to Tim MacMahon, per Legion Hoops, several teams are expected to “make a run” after Williamson in the offseason.

Does that mean the Pelicans will listen to their offers and could Williamson be packing his bags and heading to a new NBA home?

This has been an awful season for the Pelicans and they are ready to move on.

They are the 14th team in the West with an 18-49 record, but that partly isn’t their fault.

The team has been completely destroyed by injuries, including another one that kept Williamson off the court for an extended period.

But when he’s been healthy, Williamson has looked great again.

His season average is currently 24.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game on 56.3 percent from the field.

The Pelicans have repeatedly tried to have a strong presence in the West with Williamson at the center of it all, but they continually fall short.

There have been numerous problems with the star player and his health over the years, but the Pelicans have stuck it out with him and have stayed loyal.

But they might be ready for a change, especially if other teams are offering something great in return.

It’ll be interesting to see which teams come out to pursue Williamson and what the Pelicans get in exchange for his talent and contract.
