Bo Nix proved to be everything the Denver Broncos wanted at QB1 after the team selected him with the No. 12 pick in the 2024 draft. He threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while leading the Broncos to a wild card appearance.
The Broncos lost one of their key backups this offseason. Zach Wilson went to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, giving their team a suitable backup for Tua Tagovailoa.
The Denver Broncos showed interest in a QB

Per Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, the Broncos showed interest in another quarterback during Buffalo’s Pro Day this week–Canadian gunslinger Taylor Elgersma.
“The big story coming from the Buffalo pro day Thursday was the performance of Taylor Elgersma, the quarterback from Canada who turned heads at the Senior Bowl,” Pauline wrote. During a 30-minute throwing session, Elgersma displayed the same strong arm he showed off in Mobile and hit on just about all his passes.
“The big signal caller also stood out during interviews. Teams were impressed with the way Elgersma handled himself and how sharp he was answering questions. They were impressed with the command he displayed on the field during the workout and in the interview room.
“He met with the Denver Broncos, and offensive quality control coach Logan Kilgore gushed over the Canadian prospect. Elgersma also met at length with the Bills at length. Both teams are in the market for a third quarterback.”

Would Taylor Elgersma be a backup for Box Nix?
Buffalo Bills, Greg Rousseau
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (10) gets grabbed by and then sacked by Buffalo Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau (50) during the second half of the Buffalo Bills wild card game against the Denver Broncos at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Jan. 12, 2025.
Elgersma played in college for Wilfrid Laurier from 2020-2024. He earned second-team All-Canadian honors in 2023 and first-team All-Canadian honors in 2024. He also won the Hec Crighton Trophy in 2024.
Elgersma threw for 10,547 yards and 78 touchdowns in college. He threw for 4,252 yards and 35 touchdowns in 2024.
Pauline thinks the prospect will receive numerous top-30 visits and likely make a practice squad roster in the NFL after training camp.
He could be a solid backup for Nix.
