Tottenham Hotspur have been looking to improve a few positions in the upcoming summer transfer window. The North London have endured a tough season and one of the main reasons for the club sitting in 13th place in the Champions League is the lack of squad depth.
Numerous injuries to key players, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has made life tough for Spurs. The fans have urged club Chairman Daniel Levy to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer as the fans are not convinced by Vicario’s ability.
One keeper that has been quite unfortunate to not be a Premier League starter is Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland international has been one of the most impressive players at Anfield and has become a fan favourite. Although he is a backup keeper, the 26-year-old has played a vital role for the Reds this season and kept brilliantly for the Reds during Alisson’s absence.
Kelleher will be hoping to make a move in the summer
Kelleher has played a crucial part in helping Liverpool reach the Carabao Cup finals, having played three games in the competition and keeping a clean sheet. As per Sofascore, the backup goalkeeper has played 17 matches in all competitions and has kept an impressive eight clean sheets. The Liverpool No.62 has also racked up an impressive 75.4 save percentage this season.
Kelleher on the move to Spurs?
Caoimhin Kelleher has been quite unfortunate to be competing for the Liverpool goalkeeping spot with arguably the best keeper in the world, Alisson Becker. The 26-year-old was hoping to make that spot his own once Alisson left the club, but the Reds decided to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer.
Spurs will be hoping to capitalise on this situation and make a move for the 26-year-old. A Premier League proven keeper is what Ange Postecoglou needs to bolster his defence and turn the club’s fortunes around next year.
When asked about Kelleher’s situation, ex-Red John Aldridge said that a move to Tottenham Hotspur would be a wise decision as Spurs need a new keeper and the style of play also suits the 26-year-old.

“He’s a top notch keeper. In the two League Cup finals he played, he was arguably Man of the Match. Whenever he has pulled on a Liverpool shirt, he has been immaculate. As much as I love him to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career, I think a move would be great for him.”
The ex-Liverpool player added,
“I think I can probably see him having to go to play regular football because that’s what he deserves. As a Liverpool fan, I’d love to see him go abroad. I think it would be great for him. I’m looking at the top teams and Tottenham needs a better goalkeeper.”
