Beto was horrendous for Everton as they played out a 1-1 draw with West Ham United at Goodison Park on Saturday, while Jake O’Brien impressed.

Everton looked destined to suffer their first Premier League defeat in nine games after Tomas Soucek put West Ham in front 67 minutes into the game on 15 March.

However, O’Brien emerged as the unlikely hero for David Moyes’ side, nicking an equalizer in added time to cap an impressive performance as the Toffees’ marauding right-back.

Here, Goodison News rates each player out of 10.

Jordan Pickford – 7

Pulled off a brilliant save to deny a Branthwaite own-goal early on, but could not do anything to deny Soucek’s goal.

Jake O’Brien – 9 (MOTM)

Many would have been surprised to see O’Brien perform as a marauding full-back, considering he is primarily a centre-back. Created three chances from right-back and eventually turned up with the equaliser.

James Tarkowski – 5

Was a routine performance from the captain, who did nothing of note.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 6

Branthwaite was the better of the two centre-backs and played a terrific long ball to set Everton up on an attack early on.

Idrissa Gueye

Vitalii Mykolenko – 6

The Ukraine international was an assured presence at the back, although outperformed by O’Brien on the other side.

Idrissa Gueye – 7

Gueye was mostly a silent figure in the middle of the park as he did his duties quietly before stepping up with the assist for the equaliser.

James Garner (Off for Tim Iroegbunam 79′)- 6

Was a tidy presence in midfield, completing more passes than any other player in the game.

Abdoulaye Doucoure flopped v West Ham. (Credit: Imago)

Abdoulaye Doucoure awful for Everton

Abdoulaye Doucoure (Off for Jesper Lindstrom 68′) – 4

Doucoure was awful in the first half and was lucky not to be substituted, playing longer than he should have.

Jack Harrison (Off for Youssef Chermiti 79′)- 4

Another player who stayed on the pitch longer than he should have.

Carlos Alcaraz – 5

Missed a glorious chance to nick the winner for Everton at the end.

Beto (Off for Armando Broja 79′) – 3

Thought he had won Everton a penalty at the stroke of half-time only for it to be ruled out after a review on the pitchside monitor. Beto lost a whopping total of 17 duels in the game and failed to get any of his three shots on target.

Substitutions

Jesper Lindstrom (On for Doucoure 68′) – 5

Youssef Chermiti (On for Harrison 79′) – 5

Tim Iroegbunam (On for Garner 79′) – 5
