Actress and singer Khanyo Maphumulo is set to perform at the Covid-19 Tribute Concert.
Khanyo's journey into the entertainment world started at the tender age of 13 when she took centre stage as lead vocalist in the renowned musical production _Sarafina_. Her career saw her traverse the globe as a part of _Sarafina_, captivating audiences around the world.
The tribute concert will take place on March 29 at Vardos Lifestyle in Soweto and feature artists such as Ndumiso Nyovane, Siphamandla and renowned Jozi FM DJs Deejay PrinceSA, Andrew Tshaka, DJ Meme, DJ Bunny, Uncle Romza and Papa Lebo.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Khanyo said she received a call from the event organiser asking her to perform.
“I think he saw my relevance last year during DStv Delicious, where I performed, that I haven't lost touch with my singing and dancing skills.
“I'm working on my album, just putting the final touches. I'm not in a rush to release it, just taking my time,” Khanyo said.
Event organiser Terry Mokoena-Maphwe said March marks the fifth year since the first nationwide lockdown was enforced during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
“Due to the virus, dealing with the deaths of our loved ones was one of most difficult things we had to go through. It was hard for families and friends to come together to hold a dignified farewell, We are pleased to announce _Life at 40’nBeyond_ in partnership with Soweto Meat Lovers and Ama50Plus Social Club in celebration of the lives of family members and friends, and the frontliners — doctors, nurses, teachers, men and women in blue who died, and those who survived the pandemic,” he said.
