Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has, seemingly, returned to form at the perfect time - with a cryptic message subsequently sent. Injury issues have plagued the Swede over the last few weeks and that has seen mixed results arrive for Sporting.
Alongside their Champions League elimination, the Portuguese side also dropped more points in the league than would have been expected - with Benfica closing the gap at the top. However, Gyokeres has emphatically helped put a stop to that with five goals in his last three games.
After scoring in the 2-2 draw against AVS Futebol SAD, which was his side's third successive draw, Gyokeres hit back-to-back braces in 3-1 victories over both Estoril Praia and Casa Pia. With several top European clubs likely in the process of finalising summer transfer plans, Gyokeres will almost certainly be in their thoughts.
It is now 48 goal contributions for the campaign with 39 of those finished by the 26-year-old. Talk of an £83million (€100m) release clause being in his contract has been prominent over the last few weeks, but fresh reports suggest Sporting's asking price has been lowered to £63m.
For the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, that is a far more attainable fee especially with the former in line for a marquee summer. With Andrea Berta set to arrive as sporting director, he has - seemingly - been tasked with agreeing deals for both Martin Zubimendi and Bruno Guimaraes.
According to Spanish outlet AS, a summer revolution is also on the cards at Arsenal - with Berta pushing tirelessly to sign those two midfielders. A forward addition is also possible, and it could be Gyokeres chosen as their priority target with the former Coventry City man recently sending a cryptic message on Instagram.
As the caption of a post that showed him celebrating and placing two fingers on his pulse, he cryptically wrote: "One more time [handshake emoji]." That message arrived following his two goals against Casa Pia which proved decisive in the result.
