The Tennessee Titans entered the offseason not desperately needing help in the secondary after a great year against opposing quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends. Tennessee allowed the second-fewest receptions and the second-fewest receiving yards, even with their top two cornerbacks injured for most of the year. Since the Titans have good depth at the cornerback position, they parted ways with an experienced defender.

Chidobe Awuzie had a solid 2024 campaign but missed half of the season with an injury. Awuzie recorded 26 tackles, one interception, and four pass deflections, allowing 15 receptions on 26 targets for 187 yards, two touchdowns, and an 89.7 passer rating in eight games and seven starts. He missed nine games (Weeks 4-13) with a groin injury.
Awuzie had a roster bonus due on March 17, guaranteeing $3.98 million of his $11.49 million base salary for 2025. Since his $3.98 million roster bonus was coming up, they decided to cut him before the deadline.
