Aaron Rodgers Would Reportedly Rather Retire Than Sign With Steelers, Giants

The Aaron Rodgers situation has received continuous updates over the last few days. For many NFL fans, it has become a headache.

As of right now, the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the top potential destinations for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. However, no one knows which team he would prefer to sign with.

There may be some answers to that question following a new report.

According to a report from The Athletic NFL reporters Dianna Russini, Michael Silver, and Alec Lewis, Rodgers may be at a point where he'd rather retire than play for the Steelers or Giants. He may be dead set on joining the Vikings.

"Rodgers has been targeted by the Steelers and Giants but has essentially put both teams on hold while he waits for clarity regarding the Vikings' situation. If Minnesota ceases to be an option, it's also possible that Rodgers will turn down both the Steelers (a 2024 playoff team) and Giants and instead opt for retirement."

Rodgers wanting to sign with Minnesota makes a ton of sense. He would team up with Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Aaron Rodgers as his primary playmakers.

T.J. Hockenson is the Vikings' tight end, who could become a major weapon for Rodgers as well.

During the 2024 NFL season, Minnesota ended up going 14-3. The Vikings were one of the top contenders in the league behind the play of quarterback Sam Darnold.

If winning a championship is Rodgers' main priority, Minnesota would be the best possible destination for him.

As for Rodgers, he is coming off a 2024 season with the New York Jets that saw him complete 63% of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those numbers would look very good with the Vikings.

His presence would also allow Minnesota another year before handing the keys over to young quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

This is a shocking report after all of the reports about Pittsburgh and New York having mutual interest with Rodgers. It may not end up being entirely accurate, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on.

Expect to continue hearing more news and speculation about Rodgers in the coming days. There is no timetable for his decision to be made, but the media will continue covering him actively.
