SB Reacts: The rest of the Dallas Mavericks season and beyond

Earlier in the week I had a poll out, asking our readership to make a prediction about the rest of the season and offer an opinion about what the Dallas Mavericks should do next.

Let’s start with the prediction results. How many games will Dallas win the rest of the regular season?

The poll was run around the first San Antonio game so Dallas has won a game, but the intentions of the question remain the same. Mavericks fans expect Dallas to struggle to end the season, with a large minority expecting Dallas to win one to four games the rest of the season. With 13 or so games remaining, that also tracks with my feelings. Still, a similar number of fans think Dallas could win .500 or around there to close out the season. At least we all agree that this sucks.

The only other question was about what the Mavericks should do with regards to Anthony Davis. The results were pretty close to even.

I’m firmly in the camp that Dallas is dead already and the organization simply won’t acknowledge it. Trading Davis makes a good deal of sense as his value will only go down and his contract is up when things go from bad to horrible in terms of draft picks for the Mavericks.

Alas, what they will do this off season is try to build a middling team with the lack of resources the team has now. It’s not NOT going to drive me crazy, knowing what should happen versus what will happen.

It’s such a fun time to be a fan of this team, isn’t it? What would I do with all my time if I weren’t so invested in a ridiculous sports team? Alas, I’m here for life.
