As the names of bona fide starting NFL quarterbacks available in free agency continue to fall off the board, the Cleveland Browns find themselves included in a handful of teams competing for who's left over.
So who's left over? The list is long, and not so distinguished.
Aaron Rodgers remains, although the Steelers have reportedly offered him a contract. In true Rodgers fashion, he's taking his time with his decision.
Russell Wilson is still unsigned, but reports out of New York indicate the Giants have offered him a one-year deal. Wilson reportedly wants a two-year contract at the age of 36.
Other uninspiring names on the board for teams are Trey Lance, Drew Lock, Jameis Winston, Carson Wentz and a host of others that lack success as a starter.
However, there is one name that stands out from those, and it's a name familiar with the Browns' faithful: Joe Flacco. He could easily be the best available option for Cleveland and others, regardless of the 40 previous birthdays he's celebrated.
Flacco spent last season with the Colts after leading the Browns to a postseason appearance in 2023.
After Flacco's playoff run with Cleveland, he didn't play well in six starts for Indy but is still considered to be a viable option for a team looking for a veteran quarterback. Those teams include Cleveland, New York, Pittsburgh and others.

If the Browns select a quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft, Flacco could also be an option either behind or in front of a rookie.
