Szczęsny turned down Poland offer to focus on Barca

Wojciech Szczęsny came out of retirement in the summer to sign for Barcelona, following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s knee injury, and has gone on to become first choice under Hansi Flick.

The 34-year-old has impressed so much there’s already been talk of a one-year contract extension that would keep him at the club for another year.

Szczesny’s form also appears to have caught the attention of Poland boss Michal Probierz.

According to Marca, Probierz called Szczesny recently to offer him the opportunity to return to the national team.

However, the goalkeeper opted to turn down the chance to play for his country once more as he wants to focus purely on Barcelona.

Szczesny and Barcelona are currently still in contention for three trophies as we head towards the business end of the season and some huge fixtures.

The goalkeeper has already won the Spanish Super Cup with Barca but will be hoping to add to his silverware collection before making a decision on his future.
