A look at the final injury news surrounding Arsenal and Chelsea as they prepare to face off in the Premier League.
Arsenal and Chelsea face off in the biggest game of the Premier League weekend on Sunday. Few would have thought that this would be a bigger game for the Blues than the Gunners at this stage of the season, but with Liverpool running away with the title, Chelsea’s top four hopes will have stronger ties to the points available here than Arsenal’s disintegrating title hopes.
Regardless of who needs the points more, this is a derby both sides will want to win, and Arsenal will want to keep up momentum as they prioritise the Champions League in the coming weeks. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding Chelsea and the Gunners ahead of this one.
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Jesus will be out until the winter after suffering a ruptured ACL.
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
Arsenal said in a statement at the time of Tomiyasu’s latest setback: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.”
Kai Havertz - Out
Havertz suffered a season-ending hamstring injury during last month’s trip to Dubai.
Raheem Sterling - Out (Ineligible)
Sterling cannot face his parent club.
Bukayo Saka - Out
Arteta said ahead of this one: “He's getting closer. He's stepping up and making very good progress, I would say.”
Marc Guiu - Out
Guiu is out with a hamstring injury.
Nicolas Jackson - Out
Maresca has said in his most recent update on Jackson: “He will be back probably after the international break. Him and Noni [Madueke]. Before the international break we have two games, and finally, [the] break where we can recover the players and go for the last sprint.”
Noni Madueke - Out
The same update as above applies.
Malo Gusto - Doubt
Gusto is likely to remain out here having stayed out for the Copenhagen game.
Omari Kellyman - Out
Kellyman is still working his way back from his hamstring issue.
Mudryk remains suspended after alleged use of a banned substance.
