The Indiana Pacers and star point guard Tyrese Haliburton came up just short on Saturday evening against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Despite a late run to get back into the game, the Pacers didn't have quite enough. They lost to the Bucks by a final score of 126-119.
With the loss, Indiana dropped to 37-29 on the season. Milwaukee, on the other hand, improved to 38-28.
Both teams have been battling back and forth in the Eastern Conference standings. At this point in time, the two teams seem very evenly matched.
Even though the outcome was not what he had hoped, Haliburton set a new NBA record.
In the loss, he scored 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting and also dished out 15 assists, grabbed six rebounds, and recorded five steals.
After the game, the Pacers posted on X that Haliburton had set a new record with nine consecutive games with at least 10 assists and two or fewer turnovers. He also tied a major franchise record.
"Tyrese Haliburton set an NBA record with 9 consecutive games with at least 10 assists and 2 or fewer turnovers & tied a franchise record with 9 straight double-doubles."

Haliburton started off the season slow. He has picked up speed in recent weeks.
Over the past five games in the month of March, the 25-year-old point guard has averaged 19.4 points and 12.4 assists. He is start to look like the player who was reaching superstar status last season before the hamstring injury he suffered.
Next up for Indiana will be a Monday night road matchup against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
