The Rip City Remix couldn’t win the first leg of a weekend back-to-back against the Grand Rapids Gold on the road Saturday. The Gold and head coach Andre Miller — yes, the one of old Blazer fame — cruised to a 117-100 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers’ G League affiliate.
The Remix fell behind double-digits in the third quarter and never threatened again. Guard Trey Alexander led the Gold with 26 points, while former Oregon Duck Will Richardson added 19 off the bench.
**Remix Player of the Game: Rayan Rupert.** The second-year Blazers forward got the G League assignment Saturday and produced solid numbers: 17 points on 7-13 shooting, eight rebounds and six assists (although he did cough up five turnovers). Rupert’s 17 points were tied with center Sterling Manley and 3-point gunner Craig Randall II for a team-high in the game.
**Stat of the Game: The Gold shot 19-48 on 3-pointers.** That fine 3-point accuracy (39.6%) on such a heavy volume was enough to sink the Remix. The Remix outscored the Gold, 48-34, in points in the paint, but they shot just 11-35 (31.4%) on 3s.
**Remix News:** This was the Remix’s first game this season without forward Henri Drell on the roster. The 24-year-old, 6-foot-8 forward from Estonia signed a contract with La Laguna Tenerife of the Spanish Liga ACB for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, [news broke Thursday](https://www.eurohoops.net/en/fiba-champions-league/1797054/henri-drell-signs-with-tenerife-basketball-champions-league/). Drell averaged 17.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in 36 appearances for the Remix. He will now forever be known as Remix legend Henri Drell.
