How Leicester City Have Lined Up Recently
Last time out, the Foxes made a dramatic change in setup, using a five-at-the-back for the first time under Van Nistelrooy. Meanwhile, a midfield duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumaré also started, but the Frenchman was replaced after the 66th minute for Harry Winks. Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka then played further forward, with Jamie Vardy leading the line.
Leicester City’s Recent Form and Tactics
After Van Nistelrooy’s side was defeated for the fifth time in a row, change was needed. As a result, in a bid to become more defensively solid, the Foxes turned to a back five with the hopes of being more compact and frustrating the home side. Despite having limited opportunities, it was still better than the Foxes’ recent performances.
The first half saw Chelsea in full control but failing to find the back of the net in their ten attempts. A Hermansen penalty save kept his side afloat, whilst at the other end, Tosin Adarabioyo almost put his side behind through an own goal. After the first 45 minutes, it was goalless, but the home side will have felt a goal was coming. The deadlock was eventually broken through Marc Cucurella, who ended up winning the Blues all three points.
