A closer look at some of the latest Premier League transfer rumours this weekend.

The 2024/25 Premier League is nearing its completion and as the curtain slowly draws to a close, we can look ahead to what promises to be a blockbuster summer transfer window.

Plenty of business is expected to unfold this summer, with Liverpool potentially entering the window as Premier League champions. Clubs like Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Bournemouth will also be attractive destinations, thanks to their impressive seasons.

As expected, transfer rumours are starting to take off and there’s plenty to keep you busy if you’re scrolling through the headlines. We’ve cherry-picked a couple of the latest stories from this weekend amid another thrilling round of Premier League results.

Liverpool star ‘expected to leave’ this summer

There’s a lot of heat surrounding Liverpool right now amid multiple player exit links. One of the biggest names linked with a move away from Anfield right now is Darwin Nunez, who continues to cause fans headaches with his inconsistent performances in front of goal.

According to Football Insider, the forward is ‘expected to leave’ Liverpool this summer, having already missed out on leaving in January. The Reds have reportedly already started eyeing up the transfer market for his replacement, and have opened themselves up to offers for the man who cost them £85 million.

No longer deemed a major part of Liverpool plans moving forwards, Nunez is expected to move to a new club once the season ends, giving the Reds the chance to recruit a more clinical option in attack.

The 3AM Verdict: For a lot of fans, Nunez’s miss in the penalty shootout against PSG was the icing on the cake. After costing so much money, the Uruguayan has struggled to prove he was worth a record fee, and frustrations have been mounting. Nunez has struggled for regular game time this season and with the potential exit ofMohamed Salah, they need to invest carefully in new attacking options. While Nunez has put in some crucial performances for the Reds, he sadly isn’t viewed as a reliable centre-forward. Any cash they can recoup from his handsome figure will surely be put towards a replacement, which will be a key signing for the Premier League champions elect.

Everton ‘aiming to sign’ striker backed as ‘good fit’ for David Moyes

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin expected to leave the club upon the expiration of his contract, Everton are on the market for a new centre-forward. The Toffees have been linked with AS Roma star Tammy Abraham, who is currently on loan with AC Milan.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has revealed that it’s ‘looking likely’ the former Chelsea star will return to England and has backed him to be a suitable option for David Moyes’ side.

“Tammy Abraham would be a good fit for Everton. He gives defenders plenty of problems, and because of his size, he causes all sorts of issues. That would make him a good fit for Moyesey because he likes his strikers to be physical,” Brown told Football Insider.

“But if he gets a good chance, he’s just as likely to miss it as he is to score, he’s a bit inconsistent and I don’t know whether he’s ironed that out yet. He’s been over to Italy, worked on his game, and he could definitely come into a team like Everton and make a difference.

“I think he’d be a good fit for Everton and Moyes, and with Calvert-Lewin looking like he’ll leave, the opportunity is there to become the first-choice. A move back to England is looking likely, so Everton will be one of the teams aiming to sign him.”

The 3AM Verdict: Everton look a whole new entity under Moyes and if he earmarks some targets to sign, the club must get behind him. With the Toffees headed for an exciting new era, it’s only fitting some significant changes are going to be made within the squad and bringing in a clinical centre-forward would be a strong start to the window. Abraham has just eight goals and four assists so far this season but his previous numbers show his ability to made a real difference in front of goal. During the 2021/22 season, the 27-year-old notched an impressive 27 goals and five assists. Abraham has also been a clinical player for Swansea City,Aston Villa and Chelsea, and knows the Premier League well.
