Even though Kyogo Furuhashi has left Celtic, Adam Idah still hasn’t managed to earn a regular starting berth up top.
When the Japan star headed for the exit door in January and wasn’t replaced, that opened the door for Idah to become Celtic’s starting striker.
But the 24-year-old’s own form this season, as well as Daizen Maeda going goal crazy, has resulted in Idah warming the bench more than he would have liked.
Look, he can’t do anything about his teammates’ form, you are taking about Maeda being Player of the Year here, but he still had his chances.
Kyogo left Celtic and joined Rennes one week before the Champions League league phase could conclude and when the champions had already booked their playoff ticket.
With Europe’s elite competition now at the quarter-final stages, Idah is still the only man in a boat of his own when it comes to a certain record.

Adam Idah is the only man to score at Villa Park in the Champions League

It needs to be remembered that there was no Cameron Carter-Vickers for that match, as well as Maeda being absent, so you wonder how the team would have faired if they were stronger in quality.
Either way, Villa face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals and it will remain to be seen if Idah can still hold that record.
They were two well-taken goals and it’s further proof that he needs more respect put on his name because the talent is certainly there.
