Man arrested for suspected drug offences in Boon Lay; police searching for e-bike rider

SINGAPORE - A 61-year-old man was arrested by the police in Boon Lay on March 15 for suspected drug-related offences.

The police are also tracing a power-assisted bike (PAB) rider who had fled together with the man the same day.

At about 11.30am on March 15, the rider was spotted by a traffic police officer making an illegal turn at the junction of Boon Lay Place and Boon Lay Avenue.

As the officer was approaching the PAB rider, he allegedly fled together with a male pedestrian, said the police.

The pedestrian, 61, was then detained by the officer. Substances believed to be controlled drugs were found on him, leading to his subsequent arrest for suspected drug-related offences.

“Efforts are under way to trace the PAB rider,” said the police, adding that the suspected drug-related offences have been referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.

Investigations for traffic-related offences are ongoing.
