Eddie Howe took the time to answer some fan questions ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.
Newcastle will look to end their 70 year domestic trophy drought when they head to Wembley to take on Arne Slot’s Liverpool without Lewis Hall, Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman.
Off the field matters in the approach to this year’s final have tamed in comparison to 2023 in what has been a wholly intentional decision as the Magpies look to remove the sense of occasion and focus on the game under the arches.
Nevertheless, Howe has fulfilled media duties and sat down with Sky Sports to respond to questions put to him by the internet – with the nucleus of the conversation being more casual.
A welcome distraction from all the tenseness generated on cup final weekend, Howe came across brilliantly as he answered a range of questions put to him by Sky’s Adam Smith.
It’s a great watch and captures the boss away from the serious, intense side of football as he discusses three Mags who’d make good coaches, his top four favourite managers of all time, what he loves most about Newcastle and his secret talent!
His youngest son is a “full geordie” after moving here when he was two, and the Mag manager has an a-ha dominated playlist he listens to pre-match. There are several amusing anecdotes to take in for a quick de-stress. Watch it below:
I for one would love nothing more than Howe to be the one to finally bring Newcastle a trophy home. He already goes down as a legend for the memories he has brought in his tenure with us and he can cement his legacy on Sunday.
Howe just gets what the football team means to the city, and is one of the game’s good guys as reflected in his video with Sky Sports.
The man has been the cornerstone of change on Tyneside and brought Champions League football back to the city. His transformation of Joelinton, Jacob Murphy and so many more of the squad he inherited is fully a credit to the man.
