At least 50 killed in North Macedonia nightclub fire: Report

A devastating fire at the Pulse nightclub in Kocani, North Macedonia, has reportedly claimed the lives of at least 50 people, according to the state news agency, which cited the interior ministry.

The blaze erupted in the early hours of Sunday in the town, located about 100 km east of the capital, Skopje.

Videos circulating on social media capture the nightclub engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising into the night sky.

While local media speculate that as many as 50 people may have died and many others sustained injuries, officials have yet to confirm the exact toll.

Reports suggest that the fire broke out around 02:00 GMT during a live performance by ADN, a well-known hip-hop duo in North Macedonia.

With an estimated 1,500 people attending the concert, the venue remained ablaze for hours after the initial outbreak.

Preliminary accounts indicate that pyrotechnic effects used during the show might have triggered the fire.

Footage appears to show sparks from the stage igniting the ceiling, with the flames rapidly spreading throughout the club. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
