Cherries miss chances as set pieces the difference for Bees: Player ratings

The hosts took the lead after a Vitaly Janelt own goal following good work from Milos Kerkez on the left, but Brentford hit back before half time, Yoane Wissa equalising from a corner.

And the visitors scored the decisive second goal with just under 20 minutes to play, Christian Norgaard smashing home after a long throw was allowed to bounce in the Bournemouth box.

The Daily Echo rates the Cherries players in defeat.

**Kepa Arrizabalaga: 5**

The Spaniard made a couple of saves but came to punch the Brentford corner and was beaten to it by Wissa for the equaliser, the keeper looking a little unconvincing in controlling his box at set pieces afterwards.

**Milos Kerkez: 7**

A decent performance from the Hungarian, a good assist for the Cherries goal showing the threat he has been going forwards of late.

The young Spaniard looked good at times, bringing the ball out of defence and crossing well on a couple of occasions.

**Illia Zabarnyi: 7**

A strong return to the XI for the Ukrainian, making a couple of crucial interventions at the back.

**Lewis Cook: 7**

Cook was good, playing at both right back and centre midfield. He was his usual solid self.

**Tyler Adams: 6**

The American was solid in midfield, breaking up the Brentford play, but was one who allowed the ball to bounce for the Brentford winner from the throw.

**Ryan Christie: 6**

Christie was his usual self in midfield, picking some excellent passes and was strong in defence, before he was replaced as he continues to manage his groin injury.

_(Image: Zac Goodwin/PA Wire)_ **Antoine Semenyo: 6**

Semenyo looked a little brighter at times, as his mini-goal drought continues. He went very close to scoring in the opening minutes of the second half, smashing the crossbar with a header, which was a good chance.

**Justin Kluivert: 6**

Kluivert looked a real threat as usual, going on some very good dribbles but often the final pass or finish was lacking.

**Marcus Tavernier: 7**

Tavernier has been hitting some good form for the Cherries, and looked good going forward, also missing a good chance as his effort curled just wide of the top corner after some good Cherries build up play.

**Evanilson: 7**

The Brazilian has been very good since returning from injury, adding some good energy up front. The striker met a good Huijsen cross and went close, and was marginally offside when he looked set to win a penalty in the second half.

**Substitutes:**

**Luis Sinisterra: 6**

**James Hill: 6**

**David Brooks: 6**

**Dango Ouattara: N/A**

**Daniel Jebbison: N/A**
