Ruben Amorim visits Old Trafford

Ruben Amorim can't help but chuckle at one piece of unexpected praise from Manchester United supporters.
Notwithstanding some standout moments like their City derby victory and an FA Cup win over Arsenal, Amorim's tenure as Erik ten Hag's replacement has been a bumpy ride. After United even flirted with relegation at one stage, his time at the helm has seen highs mixed with considerable lows.
Home defeats to Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle are prime examples of the latter. However, the team appears to have turned a corner somewhat since a particularly turbulent winter period.
Though those worries have not turned into a full-blown crisis, Amorim has managed to make the Red Devils a tougher team to beat lately. Not to mention the club's Europa League ambitions are still alive alive after reaching the competition's last eight.
But the tally of just five victories and eight losses out of 17 Premier League matches, leaving them 14th, is troubling. As such, Amorim finds it rather bewildering when fans laud his performance.
In a chat with TNT Sports, he practically burst out laughing as he said: "They say one thing that is really strange for me. That is, 'you are doing a good job!' That is so hard to understand. When I listen to them, it's really important to me."
Amid this backdrop, Amorim stressed the need for continued humility and determination as they prepare for Sunday's clash against Ruud van Nistelrooy's struggling Leicester City side.

It's been an uplifting week for United. The team drew with Arsenal in the league before announcing plans for an expansive new 100,000-seater stadium. That's in addition to securing their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by overcoming Real Sociedad.
Amorim has been buoyed by his team's recent form and their advancement. Yet he insists there's no room for complacency as they head to the Foxes for their last game before the international break.
"Everything is important and we need to continue with this feeling that we can win games and games after games," said the Portuguese tactician (via the Manchester Evening News). "It doesn't matter the time of rest or the time to prepare the next game.

"We can do it, and we showed against Arsenal. We have to be humble and forget that, forget the table and face Leicester like we faced Real Sociedad.
"We just need to win to improve our position in the table. The most important thing is to continue with this feeling of winning and that we are improving as a team."
