Manchester United have been linked with Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier

Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier amid reports Ruben Amorim may look to replace Andre Onana at the end of the season.

Onana was signed by United in 2023, reuniting with Erik ten Hag after working with him at Ajax. A fee of £47.2million was paid but within his first two seasons at the club, the Cameroon international has made a catalogue of errors.

Amorim has continued to back the goalkeeper this season but speculation around the long-term future of the 28-year-old has emerged ahead of the summer. Second-choice Altay Bayindir has hardly been handed an opportunity to impress, apart from his FA Cup heroics against Arsenal, meaning a new shot-stopper may be in his way.

Give Me Sport have suggested that Chevalier is one player that may look at with the France international impressing in Ligue 1. The 23-year-old has played 119 times for Les Dogues after replacing Mike Maignan's move to AC Milan.

He has been Lille's number one for three seasons now and is now part of Didier Deschamps' France squad. However, he is in the final two years of his contract at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and it's believed he could be on the move in the summer.

Chelsea, who are also set to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, are thought to have Chevalier on their radar alongside Barcelona and Manchester City. The report claims a fee of £34m was quoted in January and a similar figure is expected to be demanded in the summer.

Lille are currently competing to qualify for the Champions League in Ligue 1 with Bruno Genesio's men sitting in fifth, three points off Ineos' OGC Nice. Missing out on the biggest club competition could force them to lower their asking price.
