Aston Villa are said to be keeping tabs on Cardiff City teenager Troy Perrett ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the BBC, Villa are “tracking the development” of the 18-year-old as thoughts begin to turn to their end-of-season plans.
However, it seems they are not the only admirers of the young midfielder as “several” Premier League sides are reportedly eyeing him up.
Perrett is highly rated by the Bluebirds and has represented Wales at Under-19 level.
Capable of operating as a number eight or a 10, he signed his current professional contract with the Championship outfit in July 2024.
Villa are seemingly long-term admirers, having apparently shown an interest even before Perrett put pen to paper on his deal almost 12 months ago.
The versatile youngster is said to have been compared with Wales great Aaron Ramsey within academy circles and he has also earned praise from Cardiff boss Omer Riza.
Perrett has trained with the club’s first-team and was an unused substitute against Sheffield United just before Christmas, when his side suffered a 2-0 defeat in the league.
Last month, Riza told WalesOnline when asked about emerging youngsters: "Anyone who has stood out for me? I think Troy Perrett has done very well.
"He has trained up and played in the international breaks at times. These things take time.”
WalesOnline add regular observers of Cardiff’s youth teams have frequently spoken about Perrett “in glowing terms” as he has been a “consistent performer” at academy level.
