Everton have seen their form improve massively under the management of David Moyes, with plenty of that to do with the form of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Since Moyes‘ return to Merseyside, the Toffees have lost just one of their 10 Premier League games under the Scotsman’s management, which has lifted them to sit 17 points clear of the relegation zone.

Pickford has, unsurprisingly, continued to be a mainstay in the Blues squad as he has played all 29 games this term.

Despite that, he has still been working with his new manager to improve himself this since the Scotsman’s return.

Moyes forced to help Pickford at Everton

There is no doubt that Pickford is a top goalkeeper, proven by the fact he continues to retain his number one England shirt at 31 years old.

However, his kicking is something he has struggled with on the pitch, especially with a reputation for sending powerful balls over the top.

While there is certainly a place for these types of balls, earning him an assist this season, the lack of control can often leave Everton in a tough position needing to regain possession immediately.

However, Alan Nixon has reported via his Patreon account (16 March) that Moyes has worked personally with Pickford to make some changes that are paying off.

The manager felt as though putting less powerful balls down the middle of the pitch would be more beneficial to his side, which certainly seems to have had the desired effect.

Pickford a player worth working on

Although the Toffees squad has certainly stepped up their standards since the return of Moyes to Merseyside, there are players who you would expect to see moved on from Goodison in the summer transfer window.

That being said, there are some players who just require some extra training in order to modify them to suit Moyes’ style of play at Everton.

Under Sean Dyche, there were seemingly different aims when it came to how the team played, and with a lot on the line with the Blues fighting against relegation, there was plenty of focus on this.

However, with relegation now out of the question, Everton can make the effort to open themselves up more and play football in the way they are trying to set the precedent going forward.

Jordan Pickford has always been reliable for Everton.

Pickford is one man who hasn’t let Everton down at all across an incredible number of seasons so far, and given how he has stepped up under , he doesn’t seem likely to change that precedent now.

With that in mind, the manager will no doubt continue to work hard with his goalkeeper to keep his quality at the top level.
