Colorado coach Deion Sanders said in January the only way he would coach in the NFL would be to coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders. However, based on this week's words from one of the 2025 NFL Draft's top prospects, it sounds like that possibility has sailed. Deion Sanders previously stated he had "no desire" to coach in the NFL unless the family opportunity presented itself.

"Me and pops had a good run, but all good things must come to an end," Shedeur Sanders said recently on the 2Legendary podcast. "The thing is, it's different if you didn't know it was going to come to an end one day and it just happened, but you were always ready mentally for that day. It's not that big of a surprise or that big of a deal, because mentally, I already knew that. I feel like I've got the life tools."

Shedeur Sanders was instrumental in helping turn around the football programs at Jackson State and Colorado under his father's leadership.

"For what these teams are trying to do, take a team that is not so good and change it and have instant success, that's all I've been doing years of my life since I've been playing," Shedeur Sanders said. "We weren't always in the best situation team-wise, but we always made it work. I've done it repeatedly, over and over. Whatever franchise drafts me, they're going to be extremely happy that they made that decision because of the experience."

Deion Sanders downplayed interest from theDallas Cowboys earlier this spring and is embracing his future at Colorado. Sanders and the Cowboys shared a level of mutual interest, but he has since been outspoken about his commitment to the Buffaloes program and his desire to continue his career at the college level, and he doubled down on his appreciation for Colorado this week following the end of the Cowboys' coaching search in February.

"I love Colorado," Sanders said on ESPN's First Take. "I'm not using them as a stepping stone to land anywhere else. I absolutely love it there. I love (athletic director) Rick George. I love everything about the city, the town, the school, the campus. I love everything about the community. I like it because it's our thing. What we built around is our thing. The coaching staff is impeccable, laced with a plethora of people that have matriculated from the NFL, and I love that environment. So I love the college game. I really do."
