West Ham have effectively ended their interest in Lille’s Angel Gomes, according to reports.
TBRFootball claim that the Hammers have not had a response from the England international since tabling an initial contract offer.
With the club aware that Gomes is still speaking to other teams, including London rivals Tottenham, the decision has been made to end discussions with the former Manchester United player.

There is a chance that talks could be revived in the future if the 24-year-old expresses a willingness to re-enter negotiations but, for now, the deal is effectively dead, with West Ham moving on to other targets.
Gomes would have been a smart piece of business
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, so he could have secured a switch to the London Stadium on a free transfer.
Head coach Graham Potter is said to be hoping to bring in a technically gifted player who can strengthen his options in the middle of the park.
Gomes perfectly fits the description and he would have been an ideal candidate, considering his contract situation. However, it seems as if he wants to move elsewhere.
Who could he join instead of West Ham?
As mentioned, Spurs are among the leading candidates, while there is a possibility that Gomes could return to United. TBRFootball say that the Red Devils are still “in the frame”.
The Englishman does, though, have suitors in other countries. He could potentially leave Lille for another team in France, while there are sides in Germany, Italy and Spain who are also keen on holding talks with him and his agent. By the looks of things, though, Gomes won’t be wearing a claret and blue shirt next campaign.
