Jack Hinshelwood celebrates his goal against Man City
Jack Hinshelwood admitted his wrong decision cost Brighton the chance of victory at the Etihad Stadium.
With 10 minutes left and the score 2-2, Hinshelwood shot into the side netting, rather than square the ball for Kaoru Mitoma, who was waiting near the far post to tap it in. Seagulls defender Hinshelwood conceded he made the wrong call and said: “I should have squared one at the end, but we'll take the point.
“For the rest of the game, that was playing on my mind. You've got to forget it quickly, but I thought the defender was going to cut off the cutback, so I tried to go for goal.
“But I think, on reflection, I've got to cut it back, but you can't always get these decisions right in football and we've come away with a point, which is better than nothing.

“The run we've been one, we've gone into every game believing we can beat anyone and we're in a good place, the dressing-room is in a good place, we're all fighting for each other, the fans have been unbelievable and if we can keep this momentum going, it's going to be hard to stop us.”
And while Hinshelwood was left unsatisfied with his decision - and the point - his manager Fabian Hurzeler also felt the same. He claimed his side should have beaten the reigning champions, albeit was irritated with the goals they conceded.
Speaking to Match of the Day, Hurzeler said: "We gave away goals in a very cheap way and we have to improve. The fact that we came back twice and we had big opportunities to go for the win is a very positive one.
“We showed our identity and that's how we want to play. Overall, I am happy with the performance, but not happy with the result. It is very obvious for me and clear that we should leave this pitch as a winner. Sometimes in football it's like this.

“We have to analyse this game and then we should be disappointed about the draw. We should stay grounded, humble and keep pushing each other. This club always works hard.
“We have a situation with the run after the Forest game. It is because we're doing the basics right. We have to keep doing it for the rest of the season."
The draw left Brighton sitting in seventh in the Premier League table heading into the international break. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola ’s side face a real battle for a Champions League place, with Chelsea one point clear in fourth spot ahead of Sunday's game.
