Barcelona made contact with Chelsea with a move for their immensely talented midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Premier League to see the magic of Frenkie de Jong very soon?
Chelsea are said to be eyeing a summer move for Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong. The Dutch midfielder only has less than 18 months left on his contract in Spain. And there has been talk of an exit due to his failure to earn a regular spot in Hansi Flick’s team this season. His massive salary may also be the issue.
De Jong was rested in the early stages of the campaign due to an ankle injury. He has played only four La Liga games since he recovered to full fitness. He has a lot of competition from the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Casado. In addition, he has been a very limited game time for the team.
He has been linked with a Premier League transfer for many years. The 27-years-old player will likely decide the move once this summer window is near. Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City have reportedly all been the target of approaches for a deal, according to TBR Football.
Barcelona would also prefer to keep De Jong beyond this summer. But with his contract until 2026, they might as well be prepared to sell him. They could let him off to make room on the wage bill.

Man Utd tracking the Dutch midfielder’s development at Barca
Manchester United are reported to be trying once more for Barcelona midfield player Frenkie de Jong. Although, his Catalan employers will not sell. There is uncertainty over the Netherlands international this summer, with his Nou Camp contract set to run out in 2026.
That would be the moment to sell De Jong then, otherwise they are going to lose him on a free transfer next summer.
Fichajes state that Man Utd have put in their bid with an offer of approximately €65m. However, the idea is that Barcelona’s stance is that he is not available for sale.
