Aaron Rodgers has yet to pick his next NFL destination, but one longtime agent believes there may only be one true fit for the future Hall of Famer.
Rodgers officially became a free agent for the first time in his 20 NFL seasons, getting released by the New York Jets after two disappointing seasons. There have been a few teams showing interest in Rodgers, including the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Minnesota Vikings.
While Rodgers has not indicated when he will be making a decision, famed NFL agent Leigh Steinberg believes the options may be more limited than it appears. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Steinberg said Rodgers would not want to land on a team with no chance to contend for a Super Bowl and no young quarterback to mentor.
That eliminates the Giants, with the Steelers not a sure bet to contend again in 2025 after making the playoffs last season.
Steinberg pegged the Vikings as the "positive fit" for Rodgers, with the team winning 14 games last season and a young quarterback in J.J. McCarthy who could develop behind Rodgers for a season or two.
"So, you need to have a situation where, because Aaron at best maybe plays another year, maybe plays another two years, but it's not a permanent solution, so it's a one- or two-year fix," Steinberg said. "So, he could go to a team that's really good but just needs that last little piece to put them over the top, and he could mentor a younger quarterback."
