Barcelona planning swoop for Liverpool’s Luis Díaz for around €70m - report

FC Barcelona are plotting a move for Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, although it’s still early, according to a new report. The cost is estimated to be around €70-75m to bring one of Colombia’s biggest stars to Spain.

The winger is said to be one of Deco’s favorite targets, and the Barcelona sporting director is already planning the financial route to make the deal happen. It’s not known what the team’s space under La Liga’s FFP rules will be, but given the likely cost of the transfer and salary, estimates say Barcelona will need 30 million a year to sign Díaz.

Barcelona are ready to sell some players who are on loan currently, and also some that are considered surplus to requirements, particularly in defense.

If money was no object, Barcelona would go for Alexander Isak, but it’s known that Newcastle United are not willing to sell him and would, if they even agreed to entertain offers, only accept huge amounts of cash.

There are some questions as to whether Adidas, who is Liverpool’s new kit manufacturer, will make an effort to keep Díaz at Liverpool and not allow him to go to a “Nike club” kike Barcelona. But the player himself holds the cards, he has a contract that expires in just two years and is known to be a Barcelona fan since he was a child.
