Former Manchester United ace Paul Pogba is on the hunt for a new club as his ban from professional football has been lifted. The Frenchman has been without a club since his contract with Juventus was terminated in November.
He has been linked with several clubs, including a potential third stint at United, but has yet to sign any deal. Pogba was initially slapped with a four-year ban from football in February 2024 after testing positive for the prohibited substance DHEA.
However, this ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal, starting from September 2023, meaning he is now free to return to the pitch. The 32-year-old is currently keeping fit in Miami as he awaits his next move.
On Saturday, which also marked his 32nd birthday, he was seen at Los Angeles FC's (LAFC) MLS match against Austin, where the home team suffered a 1-0 defeat. Both during and after the game, LAFC's official X (formerly Twitter) account posted videos of Pogba at the event.
First, he was seen meeting ex-France teammate Olivier Giroud. A second video shared post-match shows him greeting another former international teammate Hugo Lloris, before having a chat with both him and Giroud.
Pogba's presence at the match, coupled with his training in Miami, has sparked rumours that he could be considering a move to the MLS. LAFC, LA Galaxy and Inter Miami have all previously been associated with the ex-United star.
Paul Pogba's presence at an LAFC game and connections within the team have sparked rumours of a possible transfer to Los Angeles, but it's suggested that MLS salary rules would necessitate a pay cut for such a move.
In a 2024 interview, when quizzed about whether he missed Manchester United during his hiatus from the sport, Pogba was candid with Sky Sports: "Truly, I had so many problems," and he clarified, "I didn't have time to think of Manchester United. I needed to get rid of all my problems and play.
"I watch Manchester United and still have teammates there. They are still one of the biggest clubs in the world - but I wasn't thinking about more stuff."
