The Utah Jazz (15-52) are taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves (39-29) at the Target Center.
Following a game winning shot from Jordan Poole, the Jazz have jumped to the top of the tank race. Throughout the duration of the season, the Washington Wizards have appeared like the only team that could out-tank Utah. But two straight wins for the Wizards and an eight game losing streak for Utah has changed the lottery landscape.
With the worst record in the league, the Jazz’s odds for the first overall pick don’t change. However, should Utah find itself short on luck with the ping-pong balls, their floor shifts up to the fifth pick, rather than the seventh. With 15 games remaining in the season, Utah must hold onto their current position in the lottery.
Tonight, the Jazz run into a Minnesota Timberwolves team that has won eight of their last 10 games. After struggling to find their rhythm at the start of the season, the addition of Julius Randle has finally started to gel together. Randle’s production has decreased from his years in New York, scoring only 18.9 points per game. However, that’s opened up more scoring space for Anthony Edwards, who has averaged an electric 27.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
