‘Everyone can see’: Diogo Dalot claims Man Utd have started showing ‘something different’ under Ruben Amorim

Manchester United are looking to build on Europa League progress by beating Leicester City on Sunday night.

Ruben Amorim has been searching for momentum and his Manchester United side now have the chance to provide it.

United drew 1-1 with Arsenal last week, turning in an improved performance which could have easily brought three points.

Amorim then saw United beat Real Sociedad 4-1 on Thursday night, securing a passage into the last eight of the Europa League.

Leicester City are the opponents for United on Sunday night as Amorim goes up against Ruud van Nistelrooy.

A win here would really start to generate momentum for United and give Amorim a real boost heading towards the end of the season.

Diogo Dalot on Manchester United performances

Amorim’s first four months as United boss have been a mixed bag both in terms of results and performances.

Goals have been hard to come by but Thursday night brought one of the more encouraging displays of the Amorim era.

United racked up four goals and, yes, two of them were penalties, but there was real threat in the final third.

Bruno Fernandes bagged a hat-trick before fellow Portugal international Diogo Dalot added number four.

Dalot is now playing as a wing back under Amorim and there is more emphasis on him to get in the box and impact the game offensively.

Dalot did exactly that on Thursday night, firing home after great work from Rasmus Hojlund.

Speaking to The Mirror, Dalot has now suggested that United have shown ‘something different’ in the last few games.

Dalot noted that it’s difficult to prove that progress is being made when the results aren’t coming, but feels that fans are seeing a real improvement.

“Obviously it is difficult when you play for a club like this because you must improve by always winning. The pressure is always high to win every game and when results don’t come, it’s difficult to show progress,” said Dalot.

“But I think in the last couple of games you have seen something different. There have been different styles of play, but overall we are improving, I think. It’s something everyone can see, but results will ultimately show our position,” he added.

Manchester United setback in finding Diogo Dalot competition

Dalot is settled as United’s right wing back with January signing Patrick Dorgu featuring on the left side.

United invested in Dorgu in January but are now looking to find another right wing back to compete with Dalot.

United had been in talks to sign Geovany Quenda after seeing the wonderkid emerge under Amorim at Sporting.

However, Chelsea have now agreed to sign Quenda, meaning United must move on to other targets this summer.

Braga’s Roger Fernandes is on United’s radar as an alternative and may well be much cheaper to sign come the end of the season.
