Aaron Rodgers is on the clock. Well, he has been for the better part of four days since the Pittsburgh Steelers offered him a contract to be their next quarterback.
But it's not just the Steelers waiting on him.
It feels like the whole football world is waiting for Rodgers to make a decision - and some feel that's just the way he wants it.
Rodgers has never been in a hurry to decide anything. Or announce anything even if he's already made up his mind. Three weeks ago he was irrelevant. Now, all eyes are on him, and he's going to milk that as long as he can.
And he's not in hiding. On Saturday he played in a charity flag football game but didn't talk to anyone.
Teams in need of a quarterback this offseason are waiting with bated breath. The Steelers, because they've offered a deal, and the Vikings and Giants, because no one else will move on until Rodgers announces his next move, even if it's to his rocking chair in retirement.
Reports are that Rodgers wants a deal similar to what Sam Darnold signed in Seattle - $33.5 million per year. The problem is Darnold had a much better season than Rodgers, and the former Super Bowl MVP is in the middle of a hard decline in production and performance.
But the Steelers are still willing to take a flier on him. But is it a $30 million per year flier?
