Lakers Make Luka Doncic Injury Announcement Before Suns Contest

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten hit hard by the injury bug recently, as several key players headlined their injury report ahead of their contest against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon. One of them was Luka Doncic, and the team recently announced whether he'd be playing in their upcoming game.

With LeBron James out for the time being due to a groin injury, Doncic has had to step up in his absence, leading to a big 45-point outburst in their loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. However, in his eyes, he's still not playing up to expectations after being picked up in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

"Obviously, not there yet," Doncic said after his big game against the Bucks. "Every day, a little bit more. But still not there. Got to get some things off my body. Get them to feel better and then be ready."

Along the way in that game, Doncic picked up an ankle injury that held him out of the second night of a back-to-back, which saw the Lakers suffer a tough loss to the Denver Nuggets. He will be back in action on Sunday, though, as the Los Angeles revealed Doncic is available to play against the Suns.

"The Lakers say Luka Dončić (right ankle sprain), Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle injury management), Jaxson Hayes (right knee contusion) and Gabe Vincent (left knee injury management) have all been upgraded to available today against Phoenix," Marc Stein shared in a post on X.

Doncic is averaging 26.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game while shooting 41.2% from the field over his first 13 games for the Lakers. He will look to help his team snap a four-game losing streak when they take on Phoenix at 3:30 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon.
