LeBron James Gets Major Injury Update Amid Lakers Losing Streak

The Los Angeles Lakers have found themselves mired in a four-game losing streak since losing superstar forward LeBron James to a groin injury. Just when it looks like things could be getting bleak for the team, though, they received a positive update on James' injury.

LeBron suffered his aforementioned groin injury in the Lakers loss to the Boston Celtics on March 8. Los Angeles ended up losing that game, and it was revealed the next day that James was set to miss a couple of weeks due to the injury that he suffered in this game.

"Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is expected to miss at least one to two weeks with a groin strain," Shams Charania of ESPN initially reported last week. "James will wait for the groin injury to calm down Sunday and receive another evaluation, sources told ESPN, but the Lakers are braced to be without him for a period of time and will be cautious as they hold the third seed in the Western Conference."

Things haven't gone all that well for the Lakers since losing James, as they suffered losses to the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets. However, it looks like he's closing in on a return to action, as it was revealed on Sunday that James took part in his first on-court work for L.A. since suffering this injury.

"I'm told LeBron James is actually having his first workout since that groin strain last weekend, he's having his first on-court workout in Los Angeles here today," Charania said on "NBA Countdown." "He is expected, though, to miss at least another week. His exact return will be based on how his body responds to increased activity over the coming days and the coming week."

James has been spectacular once again for the Lakers this season, averaging 25 points, 8.5 assists, and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. Los Angeles will have a shot to get back on track when they square off against the Phoenix Suns at 3:30 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon.
