Brentford could face a battle to keep hold of Norgaard at the end of the campaign. He is out of contract in late June and is due to become a free agent as things stand.

Everton have been linked as they prepare to move into their new stadium. In this latest update, transfer expert and former scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider: “If he’s available on a free, I expect they’re getting an offer ready to convince him to join. A lot of it will depend on Brentford and what they do, though. He’s been such a key player for them while they’ve been in the Premier League and I expect they’ll want to keep him around.”

Norgaard, 31, has been on the books of the Bees since joining them in 2019. Prior to his move to London, he had spells at Langby, Hamburg, Brondby and Fiorentina.

He has been a great servant to his current club and they will be desperate to keep hold of him. The Denmark international, who has 32 caps to his name, has made 187 appearances in all competitions to date and has scored 12 goals.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank reacts to AFC Bournemouth win

Brentford’s manager Frank was delighted with their three points against Bournemouth. Speaking afterwards, he said: “It was a good first half, I was very pleased with the way we performed; we scored the own goal and Evanilson had a chance but, besides that, we were okay.

“It was an open game, where a lot of situations could happen, and we scored a great goal from a corner. We then had six top moments, where we should have got something from it. Second half, Bournemouth were better in the opening 10 minutes, but we grew into it and scored a great, ugly goal from a long throw!

“From then on, we were in control, we defended well, and we saw the game out. It was an even game that we edged - we haven’t done that at times this season, so I’m really happy.”

Norgaard added: “It was a scrappy game, very even, and maybe they were a bit better than us during the second half. But we hung in there, we kept going, and we got the three points.

“I had the pleasure of scoring late against [Man] City as well, and this was even better because we got the three points. It’s nice to be able to contribute even if it’s not my main job. I was in the right place at the right time.”
