Things only worsened under Julen Lopetegui, who struggled to fix the leaky backline. However, Potter has made West Ham more solid at the back, and in his nine league matches so far, the team has a goal difference of minus one.
With three wins, two draws, and four defeats, West Ham have scored nine goals and conceded ten under Potter. While defensive improvements have brought some stability, attacking output remains a concern—the Hammers have registered the fewest shots on target in the league since Potter’s arrival.
“It’s a work in progress,” a club source admitted. “We’ve tightened up at the back—just two goals conceded in the last four games—but we have to score more!”
True enough. But with Niclas Füllkrug set to return for the April 1st clash against Wolves, West Ham should, at the very least, have a striker on the pitch.
