Bill Simmons Sends Heard-Turning Shedeur Sanders Warning to Browns

The Cleveland Browns currently hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Over the past few weeks, many have expected that pick to be used on a quarterback. Shedeur Sanders has been heavily connected to the team.

That may have changed in recent days.

Kenny Pickett was acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. To back that up, the Browns have been showing interest in Russell Wilson.

It seems that Cleveland would like to sign a veteran quarterback and might view Pickett as a long-term option and a young player to develop.

Could that hint that the Browns are not going to take a quarterback with the No. 2 pick?

Amid all of the speculation about Cleveland may or may not do with the No. 2 pick, sports analyst Bill Simmons has sent a warning to the Browns.

In a post on X, Simmons warned that passing Sanders could end up being a colossal mistake for Cleveland.

"There's been a lot of heartbreak with Cleveland sports these past 60 years, but passing on Sanders at #2 and opting for a Kenny Pickett/injured Deshaun Watson combo would be way up there."

Granted, Simmons is assuming that the Browns would not sign a quarterback like Wilson. The scenario would look much different if it's Wilson and Pickett in Cleveland.

However, the warning remains the same.

Sanders has legitimate superstar potential. There are concerns about him and his ability to translate his game to the NFL, but the talent is there.

During the 2024 college football season at Colorado, Sanders completed 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Passing on a potentially elite long-term quarterback would be a dangerous risk for the Browns to take. Simmons has now warned them of that potential mistake.
