Rookie To Vet: Kyle Filipowski Finds Collin Sexton For Tough Fastbreak Finish

MINNEAPOLIS – In the second quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Kyle Filipowski set up Collin Sexton for a tough layup in transition.

After a rough outing against Toronto on Friday, Sexton came back with a vengeance in Target Center.

In the first half, Sexton posted nine points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

The veteran guard was the second-leading scorer for Utah in the half, only trailing Lauri Markkanen who had 16.

Filipowski played a solid 10 minutes off the bench with five points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

Despite solid shooting marks, losing the turnover battle and allowing Anthony Edwards to get hot with 25 in the first half led the Jazz to a 62-51 deficit at the half.

The Timberwolves went up by as much as 19 in the first quarter. Fighting from behind has been a common theme for Utah this year and they rarely fare well in those situations.

Jazz Face Timberwolves Before Returning To Utah For Homestand

The Utah Jazz look to avoid their longest losing streak of the season as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.

With a loss to Toronto on Friday, Utah tied its longest losing streak of the season at eight games. To make things worse, they haven’t won on the road since January 5 in Orlando. They have lost 14 games away from Delta Center since then.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves are picking up steam at the perfect time. They have won seven in a row with an average victory margin of over 13 points. Minnesota currently sits seventh in the Western Conference which means they need as many wins as possible to close the season and secure a guaranteed playoff berth.

This is the third of four matchups between Utah and Minnesota this season. Currently, the season series is 1-1.
